For those new to Charter more detailed advice and guidance is available. We will talk you through the terms & conditions, possible additional costs, and the navigation charts for your chosen area. We can provide you with a fully qualified Skipper to join you for a day sail at the beginning of your Charter, assisting familiarisation and so achieving maximum performance from your yacht.

Combined charter with training. We will tailor dates and courses for yourself and crew during or as an addition to your Charter. VHF / Digital courses, Sea Survival or even Yachtmaster examinations, the courses can be run during the day prior to handover at 18:00hrs or during your Charter period. Call us for further information.

We require a 25% deposit and a signed booking form to confirm your booking. The charter balance is required no later than 28 days prior to sailing. Full payment is required for bookings taken within 28 days of the charter period. We accept payments by cheque, most credit / debit cards, Bank transfer, Sterling & Euros (please note we charge a 2% surcharge for using a credit card, this is to cover our bank charges, debit cards incur no charge.)

You must have the appropriate qualifications and/or experience to charter a vessel "bareboat". We reserve the right to cancel any booking where incorrect information has been supplied to us.

As a general rule we allow vessels up to 36' to be chartered by holders of an RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate or equivalent. Vessels 37' - 42' require an RYA Coastal Skipper Practical certificate or equivalent and vessels 43' and larger require Yachtmaster Offshore or equivalent. If you do not possess certification i.e. you have been sailing for several years on your own boat or chartering yachts elsewhere based on experience, we will require documentary evidence before accepting your charter booking. This will be checked by our RYA school principal and you will be informed ASAP, whilst this check is being performed we will provisionally hold your chosen dates of charter for the yacht you have selected.

A completed SWMT Booking Form and Charter Agreement is required prior to sailing. The information detailed includes: Skipper and crew list - sailing ability certificates or other available comprehensive proof of sailing competence for the Skipper and one crew member. All documentation is checked by our RYA school principal prior to charter approval being given; this needs to be done by post or email in advance of your charter – The Charterer must provide original photo identification at handover of the Yacht i.e. Passport, Driving licence.

A standard security deposit of £1000 - £1250 (dependent on vessel) is required to cover accidental damage or loss. This is payable on arrival at our premises prior to handover and subject to the yacht being returned in good condition, will be returned a maximum of 21 days after your charter. (This delay is necessary to ensure the hand-back time is kept to a minimum especially when several yachts arrive together on Friday and on Sunday afternoons when we will have reduced staffing; we have no desire to retain deposits and the yacht will be throughly checked at our earliest opportunity and generally your deposit will be refunded on completion)
