Training

Our training department has an excellent reputation and can provide training in all Powerboat, Sailing, Motor Cruising and Shorebased syllabi. We are probably better known as Torbay Sea School who helped to form South West Marine Training in April 2010. We operate around the sheltered South Devon coastline of the Torbay, Salcombe and Dartmouth areas. We don't marina hop, instead we like to sail to perfect tranquil areas and specialise in showing you Devon's most beautiful spots.

Marinas do feature as a daily stop, but evenings are usually spent in quaint towns & villages tucked away in quiet estuaries. Riverside pubs provide a great opportunity to reflect on the great day's sailing. Check our Photo Album link for pictures of some of our post sailing haunts; or après sail as we call it!

Sailing with us is very different from the large commercially driven schools you can find. We care about YOU and what your requirements entail. In our sailing area, we don't have to race to our destination by 2 p.m. to guarantee a berth and the sailing instruction is given at a manageable, understandable pace. We tailor each course to the requirements of the candidates on board at the time and our student to instructor ratio is normally only 4:1.
