Frequently asked questions
If you are considering joining us for a training course for the first time, here are a few things we often find helpful for a first-timer. Please do contact us if you have any specific questions
Pre Course Requirements/Reading
A member of the Plain sailing team will advise you of the pre course skills required to join the course where applicable. Many of the courses require pre course reading or study before arrival so that you can make the most of the practical time with your instructor. The equipment will be available from Plain Sailing and sent to your chosen collection point/address.
Equipment
All the Plain Sailing yachts are maintained to the highest of standards and have on board all the safety equipment and navigation instruments required for offshore sailing. Life jackets and harness are standard equipment and clients are asked to wear them whilst on board.
What to bring
All you need to bring is suitable clothing for the seasons (multiple thin layers are recommended, remember the summer evenings can get rather chilly). Deck shoes or trainers (no black sole shoes please). Personal wash kit, a pillowcase, hat, gloves (winter months) and sun/wind block packed in a soft hold all.
Additional kit or equipment required
Your confirmation sheets advise of any further equipment you will be required to bring for your training/tuition.
